Hello. My name’s Luke. As in Skywalker. He was named after me, you know. But that’s another story.
I’m from the North of England. And the South. But I’m back in the North now. Mostly. I worked in the IT industry in London for 20 years but then I fancied a change so I began my mid-life crisis by first running the London Marathon and then quitting my job a year later in order to focus on a new career.
I completed an MA in Creative Writing at City, University of London, during which I wrote my first novel. But I’m not only about fiction. I love writing in general. It’s my second love, after reading (sorry football!). In a former life, I helped collate football stats for Opta, and they let me write match reports too. My proudest moment was getting the name ‘Calamity James’ past the editor. Nothing gives me greater pleasure than writing something which someone else can enjoy and, as it happens, I have a bit of a knack for it.
After finishing my MA I moved from London to Manchester and enrolled on a copywriting course with the College of Media and Publishing. I graduated with distinction and received a CMP level 4 Diploma as well as an ABC Awards and Certa Awards Certificate.
If your IT network needs an overhaul then please don’t ask me, I don’t do that anymore, but I can put you in touch with people who are extremely good at it.
But if you need help getting the word out about what you do in a simple, interesting and fun way, then I’m your man.
